Earlier this year, I took a step back from my work

Earlier this year, I took a step back from my work. In the midst of so many life changes, work just couldn’t be a priority.

For months, I also struggled with what felt like burnout, but I think it was actually boredom.

I dove into informational interviews, submitted a few job apps (*gasp), talked it out in therapy (per usual), and joined @thewriterscoop group coaching program — highly recommend, more on that later.

I haven’t come out the other side yet — honestly, I don’t think that’s a thing (it’s more like an inevitable part of the journey) — but I have started to fill up my days with a variety of work, just like my walls.✨I’m patiently curating this thrifted gallery.

I’m writing for a new client who’s outside of my niche: custom software development. I’m onboarding a SaaS client that helps companies build more diverse and high-performing teams. And for a few hours each week, I’m nannying the sweetest babe.

I’m also taking an in-person American Sign Language course — something I’ve wanted to do since 3rd grade.

This year has been an emotional ride, but I’m grateful for this season. It’s a sweet balance.✨

I won’t lie — this is a tough season for me. And it’s an absolute ride. But it’s beautiful, too. (And that’s not forced positivity.) Among other things, I’m soaking up this early light in my apartment. It’s so special, and fleeting. And “Hi. I’m now a morning person.” Year 30 is both wild and precious, and I’m grounding myself in that duality. 🌗
